#BordeandoRD: Day 2. We continue through the south of the island.

This day began with the visit to the border point of Pedernales - Ans-a-Pitre. We approached with some caution. There had been some strikes in our neighboring country because of a failed attempt by their government to make unprecedented increases in fuel prices. Luckily, we found everything in perfect order and calm.

This visit was shocking for the children. Seeing so much misery and haitians asking for money in a desperate way. The truth is that they lived an experience that touched them. They did not understand how some of them did not have shoes. Showing the gate that divides both countries was for them like experiencing something totally new and weird. They looked thoughtful. A comment we can't forget: "Why is there so much garbage?"

Then we went to one of the destinations to which we had high expectations: Bahía de las Águilas. The boat ride is undoubtedly an attraction to visit the area. The rock formations and the amazing blue of the sea, make it a simply unique sight. Without any doubt we can say that it is one of the best beaches in our country.

For the adults, seeing the starfish in our snorkeling was a great event, and for the children, there are no words to describe it. We found a shoal of about 300 fish in our exploration, in addition we were surprised by sea rays. We were very fortunate that the beach was practically for us. We barely saw 2 or 3 people far from us. Catching a crab was one of the entertainments of the children, to then release, knowing that they could not hurt them. At the time of leaving, local children looking for a tip, approached our vehicle with gallons of water to remove the sand from our feet. An iguana was around at the moment of saying goodbye to Bahía de las Águilas.

The Pozos de Romeo was our next stop. It was very unfortunate that we found the place very dirty and with a lot of plastic waste. However, we enjoyed quite a show from locals jumping from the top towards the water.

Arroyo Salado was a place to make a quick visit and enjoy one of the most crystalline waters of our country. The children really enjoyed this place, no matter how cold the water was. For us, this will be a mandatory stop in future visits to this area. If you look closely, at the bottom of the water, you could see small shrimp in much of the stream.

According to the plan of the day, we still had to go along the road from Arroyo Salado to Barahona, where we spent the night and enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Brisas del Caribe Restaurant. We were a bit tired and it is a very quiet place, outside the hustle and bustle of the town of Barahona, right on the Malecón. It is very broad, and the children were able to play and run around.
