There are places that are not fantastic by themselves, but rather the people that make them see and feel that way.
At Senderos Los Martínez in San José de Ocoa, they received us with a big smile and an immense vocation of service by the community. And it is worth saying that we arrived without planning.
During the tour of the place, to know everything that there was produced (avocados, peppers, carrots, etc.), we interacted with some people, who told us what the place was like and a little of its history. Without going into many details, we can tell you what a great story behind it. Thanks to the generosity and vision of a person who shared their land as a way for the community to develop and be self-sustainable, where men and women would work equally, each with assigned responsibilities.
There we met different people, we even had a delicious coffee in the family house, and that was when we discovered who each one was: four generations. That was the crush that made us return. See how that legacy has been passed down from generation to generation, and everyone knew everything, even the little girl of only 9 years old, when someone asked about the process of harvesting the carrots, raised her voice to give us an answer. At that moment you say: something is doing very well here.
From this place and its people, we can say two things: they are an example to follow; and we will definitely coming back!
