Camping, bad weather and good mood

After returning from the last family camping, we can say it was Andrea epic one.

During the road up in the mountain it was evident the large amount of rain in the area. The access was in all-terrain vehicles. It was 4 o'clock in the afternoon on a Saturday, when we were ready to build our Coleman SunDome Tent. The rain only allowed us to set them quickly.

At night, we noticed a weather pattern: heavy rain and breeze for 1 hour, and then 10 minutes of calm. That was repeated all night, and even all the next day. The night was very long. The sound of the wind did not let us sleep. The children slept more than we did, but at times they woke up to look out the window at what was happening outside. The temperature was almost permanent at 15 degrees Celsius and there was little visibility because of the fog.

Our biggest concerns during that night were two: that some branches of the trees could fall on us, or that we have difficulty to descend the mountain road when returning home, due to the amount of mud that could cause a highly slippery road.

This experience we use it as an example to talk to the children and explain that in our country and in many others, there are people who do not have a home to sleep in; or they have, but they are very weak structures and face great difficulties when they experience a storm or a similar phenomenon. This preamble helped them understand how grateful we should be at all times because we have everything we need to live, especially health, family and a safe home to live in.

For this type of  lessons is that we can say that our camping was successful. It is clear that the weather influences the landscape, the road, the mood, the activities, but it is up to each one to make the most of the situation.

Let the adventures continue!
